Brilliant Brooklyn Rail Review of Girl Zoo

The very first review of Girl Zoo just appeared in The Brooklyn Rail. It's a brilliant piece written by Melanie Odelle that sets the book against the canon of mainstream thrillers focused on missing, violated, and murdered girls. It's great to read a review that captures our subversive intentions. My co-writer Aimee Parkison and I set out to critique these mainstream narratives by viewing our fictional female characters through an experimental queer feminist lens. This review elegantly articulates our project, locating it within the cultural moment and contemporary literary/political movements. Girl Zoo will be published by Fiction Collective 2 later this month. Contact me for information about review copies, author interviews and readings, and anything else pertaining to our zoo.
